SWH Career Day

We are excited to announce that our school is organizing a Career Day event, and we would like to invite parents and caregivers to participate as guest speakers. This event is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and educate our students about different careers, and your involvement would be greatly appreciated.

- Time: 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
- Location: Sherwood Heights Junior High
We believe that caregivers have a unique and valuable perspective to share with our young learners. Your insights into your own career journey, the day-to-day responsibilities of your job, and the skills required in your profession can help our students make meaningful connections to the curriculum, as well as, provide a better understand the world of work and the many exciting opportunities that await them.
If you are available and interested in participating as a guest , we kindly request that you prepare a response to the questions below. You can share your personal experiences, educational background, and any interesting aspects of your work. You may also bring visual aids or props that would engage and captivate the students.
- What is your job, and what do you do on a typical day?
Presenters should be ready to explain their profession in simple terms and describe the tasks and responsibilities they undertake in their daily work. Using relatable examples and anecdotes can make it more engaging for young students.
- How did you become [your profession]?
Presenters can describe their educational background, any special training or qualifications required, and the steps they took to enter their field. It's an opportunity to inspire students by showing that different paths can lead to a career.
- What personal characteristics/skills are important in your job, and what do you enjoy most about it?
Presenters should discuss the key skills or qualities needed in their profession, such as problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, or communication. Additionally, sharing what they find most enjoyable or rewarding about their job can spark enthusiasm and curiosity in the students.
